Local Beverages

From distilleries to wineries, taste the best beverages on offer in the Hawkesbury Valley.

Hillbilly Cider

Hillbilly Cider is located just a short drive away from Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley in the town of Bilpin. The cider is made without added sugar, isn’t pasteurised and they don’t add artificial flavours.
They’re all about keeping it real – 100% crushed fruit fermented with minimal intervention. Natural C02 produced during fermentation makes for an easy bohemian bubble.

Address: The Cider Shed, Shields Orchard, 2270 Bells line of road, Bilpin

Karu Distillery

Located in picturesque Grose Vale just 25 minutes from the estate, Karu’s award winning Gins are worth the outing. You’ll find them on our shelves, yes, but we suggest paying the husband and wife duo a visit for a truly authentic tasting experience. Established in 2017, Nick and Ally set out to create a small batch sprits range focusing intently on quality, sustainability and the love for distillation. Since Karu’s emergence onto the scene in late 2018 they have earned several local and international awards, including a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirit Awards within our first 6 months of production.

Their distillery door is open every Saturday from 10am – 4pm for tastings and takeaways

Iron Bark Distillery

Much like the Australian wine industry of a decade or so ago, the craft distilling industry is beginning to emerge, bringing some truly world class spirits and unique flavours to the table, showing that there is so much more to spirits than the mass producers would have you believe. So much so that the big boys of the industry are beginning to release their own small batch and boutique versions of staple brands. However it is still produced on a large scale and is still blended to taste.
Ironbark do not blend to taste. The spirits produced today are proofed with purified, sterilised, locally sourced water, filtered through carbon and bottled by hand in the distillery. Attention to detail and using grain that is nurtured in Australian soil, kissed by Australian sun, is how we achieve our unique Australian flavour profile in our spirit range.

Tizzana Winery

The winery has five acres of grapevines and eight acres of olive groves. Wine and olive products are available for sale/tasting in an historic and beautiful cellar produced a medium bodied dry red, 2013 Portland Head Tannat from grapes grown at Tizzana Vineyard. The aroma is capsicum, cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant and the juice is a dark purple-red colour.
The vintners of Hawkesbury are opened for tastings on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from noon to 6pm (Jubilee Estate opens until 5pm). Weekday tastings are by appointment.
